How long have you been singing?
Oh I've been singing since I was about four years old, in which I didn't really know what I was doing but I loved the sounds that I would hear often around me and I would make melody of it. So I listened to everything that was around me and I somewhat used it as inspiration to hum or sing and break them out even into harmonies which was very natural to me. So when I got a little older I found out that I have a gift and I am truly feeling blessed that this is a part of me. My parents said that they knew that one day I would be doing music but never thought that it would be this early in my life. But God is good to me and I just want to be what he wants me to be and a kid as well lol. I pray that I'll find a purpose in music always for I believe it is a part of my Destiny.
How does it feel being the youngest Stellar Award award winner ?
Yes wow, wow, wow, it was my second year in a row being nominated for the Stellar Awards and for even hearing my songs on the radio was so unexpected that it seemed unreal at first but I am amazed of where I am today. The Stellar Awards has been so good to me and my family and I love the fact that they recognized my gifts and believed in me to place me on their voting ballot. Then to know that I'm one of the youngest to ever win a stellar Award is unbelievable to me as well. I was so nervous at the award show and was not feeling too well that night but when they called my name. I could see how I've been helped by the grace of God and my loving parents who believed in me so much. I can say that winning this award and being so young will forever have an impact on my life for it was a special moment for me and my entire family. I want to say thanks to Mr. Don Jackson and the Stellar Award family for blessing me in this way.
What do you like to do for fun?
I love to go out with my friends and my cousins in which I have a lot of fun of course, just to do kid stuff and to just be happy and satisfied with what I have and who I have around me. I love traveling as well and seeing different countries and states and we did a lot of that this year 2022 in which it was so much fun to me. So life is really simple for me because I enjoy people and I love hanging out with family and friends. It's always great to be around your closest loved ones and my church family is a part of my journey as well. They are great. I love having my weekends after a tough week of school because that's when I get to go on social media in a positive way and communicate with people all over the world. I'm not too much in love with any fame but my dad and mom have coached me on how to just have fun with music and the spotlight that is placed on me is overwhelming sometimes but not to feel pressured so I'm glad that they play a major role as well in all the activities that I do.
Who are your favorite artists?
Yes, for sure my favorites are indeed Sinach from Nigeria, I love Tasha Cobb, Tamela Mann, Kelontae Gavin and Tye Tribbett , Koryn Hawthorne oh and Judah Band. I love all these artists' music. I also like Ella Fitzgerald because I did a school project on her in the fifth grade and I found her to be so inspiring at that time and I didn't even hear her music until late. I just picked her out from a google search and read her story and it was great. I love history and music history. I didn't know why but I was just curious about what makes an individual become an inspiration to many.
Who would you most like to collaborate with?
I would definitely love to collaborate with the Artists that I spoke of and mentioned and with those who impact people to move closer to God. Surely it would be great to do a song as well with Sinach. Her writing speaks to so many all over the world and that's what I would like to do as well. To make and write music that will forever be remembered in years to come I'm hoping.
If you could go open a show for any artist who would it be?
Well I'm so scared to answer that because I love and respect everyone and it's tough to really say or pick someone out because I love all the gospel artists that I have seen on TV and social media, streaming along with Youtube. But I would open for anyone who would help me to be great and I can learn from them as well but I never really thought of it to be honest with you. I guess if you love my music, you can call me and my family. It would definitely be a great opportunity for sure.
What is the best advice you give to young artists?
Well the best advice that I could give is to yourself and it will all workout for you. Pick people that will always encourage you even when you fail because they will never leave your side and it will help you to go as far as you can. These people are my parents and family. They are my biggest fans for sure no doubt about it. I know they will forever be a friend to me when my friends won't talk to me and when I'm feeling overwhelmed it helps me to think that I'm a young achiever and I've proven it by trusting those who love me dearly and want me to win in life. Put God first and this advice as well and trust me you will be ok and it will work out for you and your music and be humble it is the key to success for sure.
What's next for you?
What's next is new music and a little acting in faith based movies of course and the journey continues. Just can't wait to see what God will do next but he has done it all for me and I trust in his plan for my life completely. I Found out Last week that I am considered for two categories in the Grammys for next year and I am not sure what to say or who to thank for that because I never knew that it would be possible to go so far in music. I'm speechless with that but grateful at the same time. Thank you Grammy Awards. I am very honored to be considered and we will see what's coming up for 2023 but I know music will be a part of it for sure.
